Bad Blogger

I’ve been a super bad blogger lately. I think it’s because I have nothing really good to say right now. I’m working on my next doll, but I’m thinking of putting it on hold to move onto something else…I’m getting project ADD over it.

In yarn news:
It looks like they are discontinuing my favorite cheap-stuff yarn, TLC Essentials. Boo. I went to Michael’s the other day and they had none left. Earlier this week, Joann’s was nearly out too. This makes me very sad. They had the best color/quality combo. I do use other yarns like Wool-Ease occasionally…guess I’ll be using it more often.
Wool-ease has some fantastic colors, but they are rarely available in the craft stores I shop at, Michael’s and Joann’s. I can start ordering online I suppose.
I might have to be on the lookout for new brand online…pay more. Boo.
Anyone have a suggestion? I love Brown Sheep Worsted…but it’s much better for knitting than crochet, IMO. I get my tight even stitches by pulling tight each stitch as I go…that kind of wool just breaks too easily.
I’m thinking acrylic or blend thereof. Research time!

For amigurumi and dolls, I really like Caron Simply Soft, Bernat Satin, and Red Heart Soft yarns. The really good thing about those yarns is that they work beautifully together given how similar they are to one another, and you get lots of color choices. Hope that helps and good luck.

Hi! You do fabulous work. Regarding yarn sources, have you checked the Coats and Clark website. Jsut because the stores don’t stock it, doens’t mean it’s beign discontinued. I’ve always found JoAnn’s and Michael’s to be challenged when it comes to yarn stock and selection. Also sign up to recieve emails from JoAnn’s and Herrschners. They usually email offers of free shipping every few weeks.
    Enjoy your day.

YOu may try to find Fantasy ‘Dark horse yarns’ it’s a 50/50 nylon acrylic blend. Not the cheapest, but it’s very nice to work with. Plus I think it’ll wear better than the TLC. And WoolEase. The web addy for dark horse is darkhorseyarn.com Good luck!!
